不存在 Nothingness

假如一個人短暫的瞬間陷入新聞報導,只有純粹的恐怖行動。事實上,沒有什麼事是正向或充滿希望的。當我坐著,我們對於法國發生的災難感到不知所措,以及察覺恐怖主義者的威脅恐嚇潛伏在每個街燈柱下。最近當地我們見到四個人被砍死於大眾捷運系統,這屠殺了一個小學生在她所屬學校區域範圍內的權利。你藉著思考著這個世界已經完全的瘋了而被寬恕,”沒有”是你唯一的錯誤信念問題。地球如今是安全並接納歷年來的世界歷史。我們的文明是親切、溫柔的,大多數的人試著解決非常現實的問題並為了全部生活型態而製造一個誘人的地方,然而為什麼我感覺不到保障及安全?為什麼在我內心仍感到如此恐懼。

答案簡單,是“黃色新聞"。小的新聞媒體可以傳遞正向的觀點,但是制度完全喪失了想像力,不幸新聞輕易的報導出時,你立即有一個自內心深處厭惡的反應。正向的故事複雜、費時,需要較高層次的理解力與深思,有些事情是不適合我們當前的數位時代。手機不需要批判性思考來取得資料,如果我們不能用極快的速度分析物質流動,我們該如何保持為一個自由且獨立的玩家?察覺是必須被培育的,就像一顆種子變成一朵花而綻放,我們的信息是非常簡明的,思考一下吧!

然而為了公平起見,資訊商業只回應我們最基本的恐懼:害怕死亡。精神官能症有一個悠久的歷史,極小的細節在我們的歷史書籍文件上,當遭受通苦和艱難,耶穌立刻從腦海中出現,他跳脫出主流並試著改變,從恐懼與死亡中解放自己是他單純的信息。給予永生,這不是重點,但當我們從恐懼的晚年被解放,我們可以專注在文字和行為上,接著思考什麼是我必須全神貫注的呢?

早期,我知道我在這世界上,這是我唯一清楚知道的事情,儘管一些哲學家還爭論這個簡單的事實。除此之外,我可以被確定我存在,笛卡兒(1596-1650)釋義“我思故我在"。然而我必須著手當一個終身旅

人去真正的了解“另一個自己",這最終將帶給全人和平。印度瑜伽師蕯古魯有支影片以暴力為出發點,他簡明地指出自殺炸彈客拙劣、聯接式的表達方式。假如我精通更多的語言,這種行為是不必要的。我們的任務是幫助所有的人們進入真正的溝通,而非官僚化,官僚化常使我們受制於市民的身份,我們渴望一個真正、有思想的想法及意見交流。現今,很多人把權利地位標籤化,人們極端不同的行動如同我們界定精神錯亂或精神病,過份單純化的標籤只會掩飾我們的無能而開啟對話。我們必須找到一個途徑與內心的自己對話,因為確實的社會交流,和平終將到來。達賴喇嘛(西元1935年)留給我們一個思想:現今我們獨立且必須共同生活在這個小行星,因此,不論是個人或國家,唯有明智、聰明的方法來解決爭論及利益衝突,就是透過對話。

笑話一則:斐瑞先生和斐瑞太太有一個大家庭,有一天他們回家時鄰居的小孩來玩,後來有一個小孩吵鬧不睡覺,裴瑞先生在客廳聽到喧鬧聲,堅定地告訴孩子去睡覺,假如不睡覺將會被處罰。此時鄰居按門鈴,男子瘋狂地要求要見他的孩子,一個微小的哭聲說:我在這裡,但是裴瑞先生不讓我回家。

If a person falls into the news for just a brief moment, the only result can be one of pure terror. Virtually nothing is positive or hopeful. As I sit, we have been overwhelmed with the tragedy in France and the perceived threat of a “terrorist” lurking under every lamppost; on a local level in the recent past we have seen four people slashed to death on the MRT. This has been followed up by the butchery of an elementary school student right inside the confines of her own school. You could be forgiven for thinking that the world has gone absolutely mad. The only problem with that belief is that you would be wrong: it hasn’t. The Earth today is safer and more welcoming than it has ever been in world history. (1) Our civilization is kind and tender; the majority of human beings are trying to solve its very real problems and make it an inviting place for all life forms. Why then do I not feel this security and safety: why is there such fear in my heart?

The simple answer is “yellow journalism.” There is little the news media can communicate in a positive light, the institution being so bereft of imagination. Unhappiness is easy to report on: it instantly gives you a visceral and nauseating response. Positive stories are more complex and take more time: they require an elevated level of intelligence and thoughtfulness. This is something our present digital generation is ill suited for. The cell phone does not require a critical thinking quiz to access its data. How are we then to remain free and independent players if we cannot analyze the material stream as if flows by us at a blinding speed? We can’t: awareness must be nurtured, much like a seed becomes a flower before it can bloom. Our message is extremely succinct: think!

To be fair however, the information business is only responding to our most basic fear: the fear of death. This neurosis has a long pedigree. Our history books document in the tiniest of detail the suffering and travails of those who stood outside the mainstream and tried to be different: Jesus instantly comes to mind. And yet his message was simple: free yourself from the fear of death. He offered an eternal life. This is not the point, however: when we are freed from the fear of the afterlife, we can focus on the words and deeds of this life. What then must I concentrate on?

At its most primitive, I am aware of me in the world. This is the only thing that I know without equivocation, though some philosophers would dispute even this simple truth. Dismissing this, I can be assured that I exist. “I think therefore I am” to paraphrase Descartes (1596-1650). I then must embark on a lifetime quest to truly come to understand “the other.” This will ultimately bring all human beings to a point of peace. Sadhguru has a video on the origins of violence. (2) He succinctly points out that suicide bombings, my example, are but poorly articulated statements. If we have more command of language, such acts are unnecessary. Our task is to help all people enter into true conversation, not the “bureaucratize” (3) that we are often subjected to as citizens. We desire a real and thoughtful exchange of ideas and opinions. Now, many people in positions of power label the actions of people extremely different from us as bordering on the psychotic or the insane. These are simplistic labels that only mask our inability to open a dialogue. We must find it within ourselves to find a mechanism to talk. With real social intercourse, peace will finally come. The Dalai Lama (b. 1935) leaves us with a thought: The reality today is that we are all interdependent and have to co-exist on this small planet. Therefore, the only sensible and intelligent way of resolving differences and clashes of interests, whether between individuals or nations, is through dialogue.   

A small joke: Mr. and Mrs. Perry had a large family. One day their neighbor’s children came to play: then they went home. Later one of the children was restive and would not go to sleep. Mr. Perry was in the living room, he heard the noise and firmly told the child to go to sleep, if not he would be punished. Just at that moment the neighbor rang the doorbell. The man frantically inquired whether he had seen one of his children. A tiny voice cried out, “I am here, but Mr. Perry will not let me go home!”
